We often hear people say, “He is a kid, what can he possibly do?” Kids are not capable of doing anything in the ‘real’ world. We challenge this stereotype by trying to build something, but are easily cowed down when difficulty strikes. We accept that as a part of our fate and limit ourselves by not trying harder. We change our goals and give in to limitations, which in turn, are not really our limitations, but something the society tries hard to impose upon us.
It is with this in mind that we decided to start a youth magazine, by the youth, and exclusively for the youth. And that is how, ‘Scribido’ was born! ‘Scribido’ symbolizes the passion to write, not recognizing any barriers or any limitations! It all started 3 months back, in a café in Bandra, when Vardhan and I were pondering over the thought of starting a youth magazine, a magazine that speaks to the youth, which represents the youth. We started getting together like minded friends and built Scribido, brick by brick. Our magazine has grown from a 2 member family to a collaborative action of 28 people! It was not an easy process, nope, nowhere near it! We faced many challenges, but today, when we look at this website, we feel our baby has finally learnt to walk!
The Core Editorial Team at ‘Scribido’ is its biggest strength. Comprising of Vardhan Karanjikar, Sakhi Nitin-Anita, Chaitanya Atre, Bharat Nadkarni, Felix Joy and I. Over the past two months we have worked very hard as a team. Burning the midnight oil editing, talking to writers about their articles, suggesting and what not! However, all the sacrifices, late night conference calls and squinting due to computer eye strain was all worth it, when we see this website finally up and running! Apart from the core team, how can I miss the writers who are the pillars of this Magazine! Each one of them has taken lots efforts, keeping in line with the deadlines and producing the best they can! I am indebted to all of them. And last, I thank Omkar Walimbe without whom this website would not have seen the light of the day. Scribido is nothing but a testimony to what the youth can do, when unleashed!
The Magazine is divided into four parts- Fun Stuff, Lifestyle, Viewpoint and Reviews. For the first inaugural issue, we have one of India’s best known Sports Psychologists Mr. Bhishmaraj Bam interviewed. Bam Sir has been a mentor to various youth icons like Abhinav Bindra, Gagan Narang, Sachin Tendulkar and not to forget Rahul Dravid. His insight into the way the youth thinks is incredible. We hope that you enjoy reading the interview and connect to it. Apart from that, make sure you don’t miss out on Sagar Atre’s ‘A day in a Ghantagadi’. Sagar spent one full day on the ‘Ghantagadi’ and saw how exactly these guys, who clean our city, work. We have a whole lot of other exciting stories you don’t want to miss out on!
Today we have come up with this beta version of ‘Scribido’ purely for reviewing purpose. This online magazine is being shown to a handful few, who we think are capable of judging us. I request you to go through the entire website and give us a feedback so that we learn and incorporate the required changes. On that note, I, from the entire team at ‘Scribido’ wish you a very Happy Diwali and hope that the light from this new beginning guides us to our dreams!
