Dr. Strangelove is one of the most amazing films directed by Kubrick. A black and white movie at its best. With the World War II fresh in everyone’s mind, it takes great courage to make a movie mocking the nuclear bomb and Dr.Strangelove makes a big leap in this aspect.
This satire, involves a paranoid Air Force Commander, Jack Ripper played by Hayden and his nutty plot to hit the Soviet Union with the hydrogen bomb before they, in his words, “sap and impurify our precious bodily fluids.” Dr.Strangelove played by Peter Sellers, is an evil genius who delivers the most preposterous lines ever!! In a mad plan to find the correct code to call back the bomb dropping troops, a lot of laughs are achieved.
Dr.Strangelove is a comic genius! The conversations in the War room are hilarious, especially the one between the President and the drunk Soviet Premier. The movie is ‘fall off your chair’ funny and the performances are entertaining. Major King Kong, at the aircraft is a mirthful Texan who is in charge of the operation, one of the funniest guys in the movie! I really liked the way the movie ends; Dr.Strangelove gets out of his wheelchair and shouts “Mein Führer, I can walk!”
If you are a fan of dark humor and WWII, this is the movie for you!
