Review

The Holiday.

The Holiday is a very light-hearted romantic comedy; the kind that you watch after a really long and tiring day, which always makes you feel better.

The plot is really simple. While most girls deal with breakups by eating a lot of ice cream and watching ‘Love Actually’ till they drain their eyes out; the two leading ladies in The Holiday (who are total strangers) decide to exchange houses. Iris (Kate Winslet) is a heartbroken British woman and Amanda (Cameron Diaz) is an American who wants to spend some time away from the man who broke her heart! The cultural shocks that they go through are pretty amusing.

The Holiday is a sweet, warm, ‘feel good’ movie. The dialogues are pretty sloppy.

The cast is star studded and the acting is pretty respectable. It is one of the most decent romantic comedies I’ve come across after what seems like ages. The editing has been done well. One of the major reasons to watch The Holiday is the BEAUTIFUL soundtrack!  Hans Zimmer is a God when it comes to making melodies; it literally gives you goose bumps.

The Holiday is charming, it is engaging, and it requires absolutely no brain power, I think that is one of the few reasons why the movie works! All in all, yes, it is a chick flick, but it is the kind that leaves a smile on your face.
