So Valentine’s Day is around the corner; guys, you don’t have to worry about watching a chick flick; and girls, you don’t have to worry about watching ‘Star Trek’! There are very few movies that strike a balance between sci-fi and romance, and ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ is definitely one of them!
An ambitious politician David Norris(played by Matt Damon) meets his Ms.Right, Elise(Emily Blunt), a ballet dancer, the same day he loses the senatorial election. But just as they start to hit it off, Norris realises that there is a force greater than them is out set them apart. The Adjustment Bureau, is this group of men, who are ‘angels’ of Fate (yes, I know that sounds a little gay, but that’s not the way it is!). When Norris learns about their plan, he is faced by a dilemma, either to follow the predetermined path or risk everything, challenge Fate and be with her!
The movie draws attention to lot of issues like free will, fate and even God whom they smartly refer to as ‘The Chairman’. The Adjustment is not a movie to be taken seriously (it’s no ‘Inception’), but it has an interesting premise. The writing is really witty. The cast is amazing, the chemistry between Damon and Blunt is palpable; they actually make you believe they are in love!
It is intriguing, mesmerising, and you can’t pause to take a pee break! You just HAVE TO KNOW what happens next! A thought provoking movie, a little predictable, but worth a watch!
